9 Movies Every Man Should Watch Before 30

9 Movies Every Man Should Watch Before 30
••• 8 MINUTE READ •••

I’m here sitting in my desk about to finish the last scene of one of my favorite movies of all time, Fight Club. After watching this movie I feel inspired and manlier, I feel like going out into the world and doing whatever the fuck I need to do to be free! This is why I thought about sharing the movies every man should watch, especially before 30.

It’s movies like Fight Club that after watching them you just feel more manly.

It’s as if you get some of your natural instincts turned on after being constantly turned off by the current pussified society we live in.

It is inevitable to avoid society all together that is why we got to constantly battle day by day to keep our manhood intact.

And movies are a great way to remember who we truly are…

I have watched hundreds of movies in my life and some of them have stuck with me throughout the years because of their message and the way they portray what a man is supposed to be like. Down below I have listed 10 movies I think every millennial man should see at least once if not every year to remember and get inspired on just pure badassness.

A depressed man suffering from insomnia meets a strange soap salesman named Tyler Durden and soon finds himself living in his squalid house after his perfect apartment is destroyed. The two bored men form an underground club with strict rules and fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives. Their perfect partnership frays when Marla, a fellow support group crasher, attracts Tyler’s attention.

Let me start by saying that out of all the movies a man should watch before 30 this is the one you really need to watch, hence the first place.

This movie is all about how fucked up society is and how it has affected us men. It makes you realize how we are doing the exact opposite of what we were intended to do as men. Big corporations have basically brainwashed us to buy shit we don’t need to be liked and feel fulfilled.

The problem is that the fulfillment is very short lasting and fades away very quickly, leaving us worse than when we started. We don’t need expensive cars, luxurious houses, expensive shoes or even someone’s name on our underwear to be fucking fulfilled, but we somehow end up in this trap.

We as men pretend to fill all the voids and insecurities with material things and then wonder why nowadays it’s so common for people to be on pills for depression, It is not NORMAL!

Men Need Aggression

Another thing that’s really portrayed in the movie is how a man needs aggression and fighting to feel alive, hence the name of the movie Fight Club. We men were designed to fight and hunt, for survival and reproductive reasons.

Nowadays men are afraid of confrontation and are lucky if they’ve been in one fight in their lives.

In the movie, the main character creates a fight club out of desperation from his sickly mental state. Let’s just say that he realizes the true meaning of life and how fighting frees you of all these chains we have on our brains.

After watching this movie I guarantee you that the thought of starting your own fight club will cross your mind at least once!

Things you’ll learn in Fight Club:

  • Freedom
  • How to be a badass
  • Honor
  • Fighting
  • Self-belief

Set in Roman times, the story of a once-powerful general forced to become a common gladiator. The emperor’s son is enraged when he is passed over as heir in favor of his father’s favorite general. He kills his father and arranges the murder of the general’s family, and the general is sold into slavery to be trained as a gladiator – but his subsequent popularity in the arena threatens the throne.

You should watch this movie just because it’s full of fighting and blood!

Just kidding, all jokes aside, this is a movie that if you haven’t watched yet you should do it now! This movie not only teaches you about manhood and honor but about family and perseverance.

The main character( the gladiator) is the best example of what a man should be like, honorable, aggressive, good-hearted, friendly, disciplined, loyal and a total badass.

Hard times are necessary in a man’s life…

This guy’s family gets killed by the king’s son and still, finds a way to persevere against his circumstances(being a gladiator) and gain his freedom. After watching the movie you will understand how we men should think and act in difficult situations.

Life is full of obstacles and we must learn how to deal with them in the best way possible to keep moving forward just like the gladiator does in the movie. He ends up surviving all of the fights put in front of him but the last one where he gets stabbed and dies, reuniting his wife and daughter in the afterlife.

Things you’ll learn in The Gladiator:

  • How to be honorable
  • Why loyalty is important
  • Manhood
  • Family is everything
  • How to persevere against odds
  • How to have a no-excuses mentality
  • Aggression is necessary

In 480 B.C. a state of war exists between Greece, and Persia, who is led by King Xerxes. At the Battle of Thermopylae, Leonidas (Gerard Butler), king of the Greek city-state of Sparta, leads his badly outnumbered warriors against the massive Persian army. Though certain death awaits the Spartans, their sacrifice inspires all of Greece to unite against their common enemy.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • Courage
  • Loyalty
  • How to fight
  • Mentality
  • How to overcome fear
  • Why loyalty is important
  • Honor

This has to be one of the best movies ever made in the 2000’s hands down!

Not only are the graphics amazing but the story and the lessons you can learn in this movie are priceless. You learn about teamwork and how by working in a team you can do virtually anything you can think of.

You can’t do it all alone…

Basically, in the movie, an army of 300 Spartans work together to defeat the Persian army of more than 10,000 men. We, humans, have evolved to unite and work together in order to survive and preserve the species.

It is a myth in my opinion that the lone wolf is better off without the tribe. It is something that you only see in Hollywood movies but the reality is that without working together for a common goal your survival rate drops down to 10%.

Finally, this movie shows you how to be a powerful and respected leader, by fighting among your men and leading them to success. This is a must in a man’s life, especially if you want to reach your true potential as a human being and accomplish great things in this life.

Rocky Balboa, a small-time boxer from working-class Philadelphia, is arbitrarily chosen to take on the reigning world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed, when the undefeated fighter’s scheduled opponent is injured. While training with feisty former bantamweight contender Mickey Goldmill, Rocky tentatively begins a relationship with Adrian, the wallflower sister of his meat-packer pal Paulie.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • How to start from the bottom and rise
  • Physical training
  • Kindness
  • Self-belief
  • How to never give up

If you haven’t watched this movie and you live in America you need to go to Canada. Just kidding, but how can this be possible?

This movie represents the American dream and how an underdog can ultimately rise to the top by working hard and having discipline.

The relentlessness of rocky to be ready for the fight that will give him the title is insane and will inspire you to train harder at the gym. Rocky has no reason to believe that he will win the fight against the champion, but he still does. He has faith in himself and in his abilities to defeat Apollo Creed.

This is something we men can learn from and start believing in ourselves and our capacity to overcome every obstacle that put in front of us.

After receiving a license to kill, British Secret Service agent James Bond heads to Madagascar, where he uncovers a link to Le Chiffre, a man who finances terrorist organizations. Learning that Le Chiffre plans to raise money in a high-stakes poker game, MI6 sends Bond to play against him, gambling that their newest “007” operative will topple the man’s organization.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • Attitude
  • The way to talk to women
  • How to be a badass
  • Eye contact

The way James Bond carries himself in this movie is just insane and plain cool. This guy is a total badass! The way he remains calm and collected at all moments is just something we can learn from.

Things I noticed in this movie that can improve the way you carry yourself are: the way he maintains eye contact while speaking to a woman, even if the woman tries to challenge his frame. The way he listens while others are speaking and just lays back in a confident, collected manner listening to every word the other person says.

Lastly, the way he behaves around women is just impressive. He has very clear that his mission in life comes before anything, including women.

Women sense that this man has a purpose and that they come second in his life and that makes them even more attracted to him. Putting your purpose as number one priority in your life should be without a doubt the first thing you change in your life, the rest will follow.

Cal Weaver is living the American dream. He has a good job, a beautiful house, great children and a beautiful wife, named Emily. Cal’s seemingly perfect life unravels, however, when he learns that Emily has been unfaithful and wants a divorce. Over 40 and suddenly single, Cal is adrift in the fickle world of dating. Enter, Jacob Palmer, a self-styled player who takes Cal under his wing and teaches him how to be a hit with the ladies.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • How to become a player
  • How to seduce women
  • How to carry yourself
  • How to dress

Man, I love this movie! Not only have I watched it more than 3 times but I have learned a lot from it and you will too.

After watching this movie you will realize that we all can become great seducers, but only if we really want it. You can literally go from being an antisocial loser to being the ultimate ladies man, all you need is a change of mindset and raise your self-esteem.

Women are very sensitive in perceiving a man’s spirit and true colors. If you don’t believe you are a great catch then nobody will and the prophecy continues. That’s why you have to take charge and do something about it.

You can’t expect for someone to like you and be attracted to you if you don’t even like yourself. You need to fix everything that you hate about yourself and evolve into a proud, self-confident version of yourself just like the main character in this movie did.

A widowed farmer, with a brave but brutal military past, decides not to join the militia when the British arrive. However, when his son enlists and is later captured by the enemy, the former soldier must abandon his new-found pacifist principles in order to rescue his oldest child and forms a regiment of Carolina patriots, whose guerrilla tactics prove pivotal to the US war effort.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • How to fight for what you believe in
  • How to react against opposition
  • Valor
  • How to be courageous
  • Don’t take shit from anybody

It goes without saying that life is a rollercoaster and it is full of opposition from different kinds of forces coming at you from all angles. We as men need to be prepared to handle whatever situation comes into our lives and get it under control as soon as possible.

In this movie, the main character gets the greatest opposition a man can get in his life, not only be under oppression by another country in your own homeland but to witness an enemy soldier kill your son in front of you and not being able to do anything about it.

It is this kind of opposition that makes us see what we are made of and what we are capable of doing in hard circumstances. Fighting for what you believe in against whatever is put in front of you is what the main character does and you should too!

You should never take shit from anybody and always fight from what you believe in even if you have to sacrifice some things.

Based on Homer’s “Iliad,” this epic portrays the battle between the ancient kingdoms of Troy and Sparta. While visiting Spartan King Menelaus, Trojan prince Paris falls for Menelaus’ wife, Helen, and takes her back to Troy. Menelaus’ brother, King Agamemnon, having already defeated every army in Greece, uses his brother’s fury as a pretext to declare war against Troy, the last kingdom preventing his control over the Aegean Sea.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • Valenty
  • Legacy
  • How to be a living legend
  • How to overcome fear
  • Alpha Maleness
  • Courage

Why You Should Watch It

If you want to learn how to be more courageous and how to become a fucking legend then this movie is the one you ought to watch.

This Achilles guy has so much faith in himself and his abilities that he literally becomes invincible. This is the concept we need to have of ourselves at all times. We need to believe that we are capable of doing whatever we want if we put the effort, even if sometimes is not true.

There’s this line in the movie where a boy tells Achilles right before heading to war  “The Thessalonian you’re fighting, he’s the biggest man I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t want to fight him.” and Achille responds “That is why no one will remember your name”.

I’m going to leave you with that mind-blowing line because you really need to watch the movie to really appreciate it.

William Wallace is the medieval Scottish patriot who is spurred into revolt against the English when the love of his life is slaughtered. Leading his army into battles that become a war, his advance into England threatens King Edward I’s throne. William is eventually captured and executed, but not before becoming a magnificent symbol for a free Scotland.

Things you’ll learn in this movie:

  • Leadership
  • How to act against the odds
  • Morality
  • How to inspire people
  • How to love a woman
  • How to be a man
  • How freedom is worth dying for
  • How your circumstances don’t define your life

What’s a man without freedom? What’s a man without the opportunity to experience life however he chooses to do so? This movie is all about revolting against oppression to gain freedom and liberty.

We men need to be free in order to be at peace with ourselves. Without freedom we are just soulless bodies roaming around the planet without direction or purpose, ending up depressed and ultimately dead.

You got two choices in this life, just like the warrior William Wallace did in the movie, to live free or die trying!

Nowadays most men are not free, we are controlled by society’s expectations and opinions. Let me make this clear, we are not born free in this world, we are born inside a setup system and it is our duty to get out of it and live freely.

In this time in history it is not necessary to die to gain freedom, but still, we must do certain sacrifices to gain it, and let me tell you, it is much worth it.

Waking up early in the mornings to go make some other dude money is not the way you have to live the rest of your life. You should always be striving for freedom and doing whatever it takes to achieve it, that way YOU can be the one deciding what you spend your time on in this life, not your boss.
