Every human gets 24 hours a day to do whatever he or she wants, not more not less. So what makes one human have a rich, fulfilling life and another, a poor, unfulfilling one?. You guessed it…PRODUCTIVITY. In this article, you will discover how to be more productive in your day to day life and how it can improve your reality.

 The level of productivity you have is the difference between having a great life or a mediocre one. If you feel your life is nowhere close to where you imagined it, then you should take a closer look a the level of productivity you have as a person.

Nobody is born knowing how to be more productive just as no one is born knowing how to speak. Like everything else in life, it takes practice and repetition.

Productivity is a skill and as such, anybody can learn it if they put the effort necessary.

Now, what exactly is a productive person?

If you search the word productive in google it comes up with this:


  • Producing or able to produce large amounts of goods, crops, or other commodities.
  • Achieving or producing a significant amount or result.

I personally like the second definition better, but you get the idea now.

To be a productive person means that you produce the greatest amount of results you can in a set period of time.

So the next question you must ask yourself is…

Am I producing the greatest amount of results in the day or could I be doing more with that time?

I’m guessing that if you’re reading this, you have already realized that you’re not getting the most out of your 24 hours. Deep down, you know, you could be 10 times more productive than you currently are.

Self Awareness is The First Step…

By being aware of your current level of productivity you’ll be able to start being in control of everything you do…

Every hour of the day!

And thus, organize your life to a level where it’ll be inevitable to reach your potential. The trick here is to consciously make the decision to change and take advantage of every minute of your day.

Now that you know a bit more about productivity and why you should become a more productive person, I will show you how to actually get the most out of every day of your life for the rest of your life.

Let’s begin…

1.Wake Up Earlier

Waking up early…Duh! So obvious Omar I could have guessed that myself.

This is the response most people would have if I told them that the number one trick in becoming a more productive person is to wake up earlier than they do now!

Hahaha…with all jokes aside though…

I truly believe that waking up earlier is way underrated and should be discussed more among self-improvement thought leaders.

It’s such a simple concept…


Let’s say that as of now you’re used to sleeping 8 hours a day. Meaning that if you go to sleep at 11 pm you’d be waking up at 7 am, leaving you with 18 hours to do shit.

The question now is… Do you really need those 8 hours? 

If you do, then don’t complain that you aren’t as successful as those people that don’t.

See… it’s all about sacrifice and what you are willing to do to accomplish your goals. If it was up to me I’d sleep 11 hours with no problems whatsoever, but you know what?…

I only have one chance to live this life and I’m willing to sleep a little less to get what I want.

2. Have a To-Do List

It may sound simple and not quite innovative, but having a to-do list widget on your phone is life changing.

Having a to-do list was game changing in my life because it made being productive feel like a game.

Having 5 must-do tasks every day puts on enough pressure without it becoming overwhelming and counterproductive.

By assigning the tasks you must accomplish the next day you give yourself the bestchance to have a productive day and get closer to your goals with the least effort.

There is nothing more rewarding than crossing off the 5 tasks you assigned yourself the night before…the feeling is unreal.

I remember my life before using the to-do widget on my phone, man… it was so unorganized and all over the place…

Now looking back…I must have wasted hundreds if not thousands of hours deciding what I had to do on a day.

Stop wasting time and get yourself a to-do list and start planning out your days to make them as productive as possible.

3. Meal Prep

It’s said that we humans spend more than 2 hours a day simply eating and drinking shit…

That’s insane!

Although you can’t really change the fact that you must eat, you can change the amount of time you spend making those meals by meal prepping in advance.

By preparing all your meals of the week on the same day you not only control how much you eat but you save a lot of precious, valuable time!

It’s as easy as picking a day of the week, usually Sundays, and preparing every meal for every day of the week. So instead of spending an hour a day cooking, you would only spend a single hour on Sundays.

That’s more than 6 hours saved in 1 week! More than 24 hours saved in a month which equals a whole day! Crazy right?

Now go and start meal prepping!

4. Sleep Well

Being productive is not only about saving time here and there but also about making the best out of every hour that you already have.

See, you could have 10 hours a day to work and hustle but if you are tired and feeling low in energy those 10 hours will be pretty much wasted.

It is not so much about the time you work but about the amount of work you do in that time, now we’re talking!

This is why sleeping is so important and crucial in your journey to learning how to be more productive.

Sleeping a minimum of 6 hours without going over 8 is the perfect amount of time you need to recover. We are like smartphones, in that if you forget to charge it the night before it doesn’t last or perform at its full potential the next day.

If you want to work at 100% capacity and get shit done every day then you must prioritize sleep and take it seriously!

4. Work Outside of Your House

Working away from your house is the way to go if you want to REALLY get shit done.

I used to be the kind of guy that would lay in bed with his laptop and “work”.

I would work for 10 minutes, go to the kitchen, grab some popcorn, go back and work for another 10 minutes. Inevitably, ending up falling asleep without actually getting any work done.

Stop fooling yourself believing that you can actually work at home with all the distractions staring at you saying “take a break, it won’t hurt”…

Fuck that!

You know what? It does fucking hurt!

And not only that, but it makes you lazy and ends up becoming a bad habit.

Don’t Fall For The Trap…

Instead of falling for the laziness trap, go to Starbucks, Panera Bread or even to the fucking library. Any place outside of your home that provides a wifi signal will do.

The trick here is to make working outside a habit. Eventually, you’ll find yourself spending hours at Starbucks actually getting shit done instead of pretending you’re getting work done.

FOCUS is the X-factor in getting work done and being in your PJs at home right next to the tv won’t help you.

Go to a cafe, grab a table and actually sit down in front of your computer and get in the zone!

5. Learn While Doing Mundane Stuff

A good amount of our day is spent getting to our destinations. There’s no way around it, it’s part of living, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of those lost hours in the day.

Let me introduce you to audible and podcasts!

You can literally play an audiobook or a podcast in your car when commuting to work and learn something new instead of getting lost in your thoughts and thinking negative shit.

Nowadays, there shouldn’t be any excuse to waste time while doing mundane stuff. If you want to learn something and don’t have the time, then use the time you waste driving, walking, etc!

Let’s say you spend 2 hours out of your day driving, okay?

You could literally finish a book within 5 days while driving and actually learn something new without even trying!

6. Exercise

Another way you can become a more productive person is by working out every day.

Exercising will not only make you feel amazing every day but it will give you more energy to get more shit done in your day.

Most people think that spending energy exercising is counterproductive, but what they miss is that working out is truly an investment.

It’s true that when you exercise you spend energy.

But what most people don’t realize is that you get 2X the energy back, along with good feeling chemicals in your brain.


The problem with today’s society is that most people spend the majority of their time planning instead of actually DOING!

Now that you’ve learned how to be more productive, I will give you the most important ingredient in productivity.

But first…Let’s get something straight…

Planning is good and all but planning is not going to give you the result, DOING will.

You can spend all day planning your next workout sesion, but you actually need to go in to get the result!

This is where the 5/95 rule comes into place…

The rule states that you only spend 5% of your time planning and 95% of your time actually doing the “thing”.

This rule will improve your productivity in your day to day life by making you spend time in the thing that’s actually bringing you the result you want.

Next time you have an important goal, make sure you spend only 5% of your time planning…

and the rest doing and adjusting!
